What to See on Your Tour to Algeria

About: Namibia is a country in South Western Africa. It is a magical country with only 2,5 million people living in vast territories with very different landscapes. The capital city is Windhoek with only 250 thousand people. Namibia was a German colony and got its independence relatively recently thus lots of German influence can be seen throughout the country. What makes it great for people traveling from the northern hemisphere is that it has summer from December thru March and it’s a great way to avoid winter’s cold. Great food, especially meats (game meat is a must-try), tasty wines, beautiful night skies, relatively cheap prices, and, of course, lots of things to do make this well-developed country a hidden gem.

One must-see is Etosha National park, covering almost 23 million sq km with an abundance of wildlife. Great African safari destination! It was a lake millions of years ago and now sometimes in the rain season, it could have up to 3 inches of water. The name of the park translates as “mirage”. Another place is the Namib desert, whose sand dunes hold a lot of “the only place where” titles. For example, it is the only place where a population of desert lions and elephants can be found. It has an ephemeral river that feeds the valley and morning fog from the Atlantic brings moisture in to sustain, surprisingly, a lot of life. The Atlantic coast of the whole country is rough and it’s called a skeleton coast for many shipwrecks littering the shores. It’s otherworldly looking where the desert meets the ocean. On the coast, there is a seal colony, the town of Swakopmund and Luderitz to see. Kalahari desert lies on the border with Botswana and it’s another great place to see if the time allows, along with Spitzkopee, Waterberg Plateau, and many more. What Namibia is famous for: vast spaces, otherworldly landscapes, wildlife and Namib desert, with its highest dunes in the world. It is a great country to navigate on your own. Having a tour guide in Namibia will help you to relax and enjoy your experience more and worry less.

Fish River Canyon is the second largest canyon in the world, after the Grand Canyon. Luderitz is famous for its nearby ghost-town, Kolmanskop. Swakopmund presents a unique mix of European city and African vibe. Located on the Atlantic coast, Walvis Bay (half an hour from Swakopmund) offers many tours, including kayaking to see seals, whale watching tours, harbor tours with oysters and champagne and more. And last but not least – Namib desert. This desert is very beautiful, as on the Atlantic coast huge dunes meet the ocean and inland you can visit the famous Deadvlei. Namib desert is also unique because it has a population of lions, elephants and the whole ecosystem within its sands.

Who will love it: wildlife and bird enthusiasts, stargazers, meat lovers, comfort lovers, and those who like to visit less populated places.
