About: Zimbabwe is a landlocked African country that was in a lot of turmoil in recent decades, but now is steadily becoming a popular tourist destination. With its iconic African landscapes, wildlife, rich history, and curiosities, Zimbabwe definitely should be on the radar for anyone visiting the South African region. Many parks with great safaris, like Hwange National park, where the biggest elephant population is to be found, or Matobo National park, where one of the largest populations of leopards is found along with black and white rhino. Matobo is also a great place for hiking which is unique for Africa because parks usually don’t allow people on foot to avoid animal-human conflicts. One of the seven natural wonders of the world is located here - Victoria falls. With its largest mass of falling water, a mile wide and over 300 feet tall, it is sure to impress. It is also said, that on the peak flow spray from the waterfall can be seen 30 miles away! Zambezi river creates a natural border and also there is a park with the same name and Mana Pools National park that is fed by the river. World-famous Limpopo is actually the name of the river that marks another border with South Africa and it is also a wonderful natural area with lots of wildlife. For those who would like to visit cities, there are a few. The capital city, Harare, has many museums and parks and is rich with history, especially of colonial times. Another young colonial city to mention is Bulawayo - relatively young, sinking in greenery and flowers, and has its own vibe of the economic and industrial center. Zimbabwean people are friendly and helpful and the country is relatively safe to be in. In the recent decade, the country experienced enormous inflation with ridiculous rates: double the prices in 24,7 hours, which would be almost 100% inflation daily. It was when people had to have suitcases of money to pay for goods and money was cheaper to burn than anything else. Luckily, it is all left behind and the country is doing much better. Great food, beautiful lodging options, and relatively low prices for tours and attractions make this country an attractive choice for those who are looking for a unique African experience.
