6-Day Botswana Luxury Mobile Safari — From US$4,550 PP

6 Days Botswana Mobile Safari Overview

Experience two of Botswana’s most rewarding wildlife areas on this six-day mobile safari through Moremi Game Reserve and the Khwai Community Concession.

Your journey begins in Maun with a short bush flight into Moremi. Spend two nights exploring the reserve’s floodplains, lagoons, woodland and open savannah before traveling by safari vehicle to Khwai for three additional nights.

This is not an ordinary camping trip. You will stay in a fully serviced mobile-tented camp with proper beds, en-suite flushing toilets and private bucket showers. Meals are prepared by a dedicated chef, while the professional safari team manages the camp, transportation and daily activities.

On the day the camp changes location, you continue exploring with your guide while the safari team dismantles the camp, moves it to Khwai and prepares everything before your arrival.

The compact itinerary is well suited to travelers who want an immersive Botswana safari but have limited vacation time. It can also be combined with Kasane, Chobe National Park, Victoria Falls or a longer Southern Africa itinerary arranged by One Big Planet.

Botswana Overlanding with One Big Planet

Arrive in Maun, Botswana’s main gateway to the Okavango Delta.

Take a scheduled bush flight from Maun to the airstrip serving your mobile camp in Moremi Game Reserve. The flight provides your first aerial view of Botswana’s changing waterways, floodplains and wilderness.

Your guide will meet you at the airstrip and take you on a wildlife-viewing transfer to camp. Depending on your arrival time, you may enjoy an afternoon game drive before settling into your tent.

Meet the safari team, enjoy dinner and spend your first night surrounded by the sounds of the African bush.

Accommodation: Luxury mobile-tented camp
Meals: Lunch and dinner, depending on arrival time

Wake early for tea or coffee before beginning a full day of wildlife viewing in Moremi Game Reserve.

Moremi protects a diverse mixture of seasonal floodplains, permanent lagoons, woodland and open savannah. This variety creates productive habitat for elephants, buffalo, giraffes, antelope, predators and an impressive range of birdlife.

The day may be divided between morning and afternoon game drives or arranged as a longer wildlife drive with lunch in the bush.

A boating activity may also be possible, depending on water levels, local conditions and availability.

Accommodation: Luxury mobile-tented camp
Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner

Leave Moremi in the morning and begin your journey toward the Khwai Community Concession.

This is not simply a transfer day. You will continue exploring with your guide, watching for wildlife while traveling through changing environments toward the Khwai River.

A freshly prepared lunch will be served in the bush.

While you are on safari, the camp team will dismantle the Moremi camp, transport it to Khwai and rebuild it before your arrival. Your familiar tent, dining area and safari team will be waiting for you in a new wilderness location.

Depending on arrival time and conditions, an evening wildlife drive may be possible.

Accommodation: Luxury mobile-tented camp
Meals: Breakfast, bush lunch and dinner

Spend a full day exploring the Khwai Community Concession.

Located along the Khwai River north of Moremi, the concession contains grasslands, woodland, flooded pans and riverfront habitat. Animals move freely between Khwai and the surrounding protected areas, creating excellent opportunities for year-round wildlife viewing.

Your day may include traditional game drives and, depending on conditions, a mokoro excursion, guided walking safari or evening drive.

The schedule remains flexible, allowing your guide to adapt the experience around recent sightings, wildlife movement and your interests.

Accommodation: Luxury mobile-tented camp
Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner

Enjoy another complete day in the Khwai area.

You may choose an extended wildlife drive or combine game viewing with one of the area’s other available experiences. Possible activities include mokoro excursions, walking safaris, stargazing, evening drives and a community visit.

Night drives provide an opportunity to look for nocturnal wildlife that may not be active during the day. A mokoro excursion offers a quieter perspective of the wetlands when water conditions permit.

All activities are dependent on weather, water levels, wildlife movements and operational conditions.

Return to camp for your final dinner beneath the Botswana night sky.

Accommodation: Luxury mobile-tented camp
Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner

After breakfast, enjoy a final wildlife-viewing transfer to the Khwai airstrip.

Take a scheduled bush flight from Khwai to Kasane, where your six-day safari concludes.

From Kasane, continue to your onward destination or add a stay near the Chobe River. Victoria Falls can also be added in Zimbabwe or Zambia, depending on your preferred route and flight arrangements.

One Big Planet can coordinate the extension and arrange the complete journey around your international travel plans.

Your Camp Moves While You Explore

While you explore, the safari team:

  • Dismantles the tents and communal camp areas
  • Transports the camp to the next location
  • Rebuilds the accommodation and dining areas
  • Prepares everything before your arrival

You continue watching wildlife and enjoying the safari while the move happens behind the scenes.

The same guide, camp team and comfortable tent remain with you. Only the surrounding landscape changes.
