A wedding anniversary is a special occasion just for the two of you. Depending on your personality, it may be a romantic, adventurous, or lazy getaway.
It is a private celebration, as opposed to a public holiday, and that makes it very convenient for traveling. Any public holiday would create commotion, raise prices, and decrease supply and availability. Of course, there are benefits to combining two occasions, but that is not the topic of this post.
To begin with, let’s start with a romantic vacation. In the end, this is as romantic as it gets, other than maybe Valentine’s Day.
Romantic active: Of course, Paris has the reputation of being the most romantic city. But Paris is also known for being impatient with tourists, busy, expensive, and crowded. Italy, Greece, Hungary, and other European countries may do better. Old European charm, walks, museums, great food, and wine will make your trip special. You can find a place that suits you depending on your hobbies and passions. Ski in the Alps and then enjoy an evening at your chalet with a fire and drinks. Or spend a day exploring the castles of Prague and relax in a restaurant with a river view. Maybe diving in Malta or the architecture of Barcelona will be your thing. Good old Europe has it all for a romantic and active getaway.
Romantic passive: Honestly, it is amazing to be lazy sometimes. Kids, work, chores, friends — adult life is tough. Sometimes we need to just spend some time at the beach near the bar. The Caribbean is my best advice. It has it all: all-inclusive resorts in Mexico and the Dominican Republic, where all there is to do is eat, drink, and lie by the pool with a book or a cocktail in your hand. Some walks and tours are a great addition to this lazy time. Caribbean islands are also great for diving, sunset cruises, and snorkel tours — anything your soul desires. The mellow pace, friendly relaxed people, and time spent together are all very tempting reasons to celebrate your anniversary there. It is easy to choose your next island — wherever the cheap tickets take you, unless of course you already have your bucket list.
Bucket list: Choose anything you want from your bucket list. Did you always want to go to the Galapagos and now it is your 25th anniversary with your better half? Australia for a month? Why not now? We all know that time is of the essence, and seeing the world is always worth it.
Adventure: Here I am with Africa.
Africa is love, and there is a saying that once you catch the African virus, you keep coming back. It does not sound quite as nice after the Covid-19 pandemic, I know. Anyway, there are only about 50 thousand lions left on the whole continent, so it is not too late to see them. There is a debate about how beneficial tourism is for wildlife, but that is for another post. An African tour is a great anniversary idea, one of a kind, and maybe the trip of a lifetime.
From the assortment of our tours, I could recommend any of them as something special. All of our tours are to unique destinations, and we have been to each country ourselves. Whether it is Georgia with amazing food, wine, and welcoming people, or Algeria with sights still untouched by tourism, there are memorable options for every kind of couple.
Local: In my opinion, any trip is better than none. A weekend getaway to a neighboring state or a short domestic flight can be a great change of scenery, especially for a smaller anniversary. The United States has a great number of national parks in almost every part of the country.
A wedding anniversary is an important day and celebrating this occasion may not fix your relationship, but definitely can reignite the feeling and remind you how wonderful is a person living next to you. Plan your getaway yourself or let us create a plan for you. As they say, plan the travel and then travel the plan.
